Hi! This is my first post here. I've been lurking for a while but didn't have anything to add. Last weekend I was checking out the "Home and Hobby" exhibit at the county fair and I learned about an interesting charity group based in LA.

 

Stitches from the Heart creates quilts/hats/sweaters/booties for needy children in hospital. Most donations are for premature babies. They need little hats to keep them warm but small enough items are not comercially produced.

 

The volunteer showed me how to make a simple hat, and I stopped on the way home and got some TLC baby yarn. So far I've finished four tiny little hats. It's very satisfying to have finished object in such a short time, and for a good cause.

I used to crochet for a similar group here in GA that disbanded. Noble cause. My daughter spent a week in the NICU after she was born so I have a special place in my heart for these charities.
