just a little bump to get this back in the loop... hoping for more input.

 

One thing this is definately showing is that there are more knife holders than pencil grippers.

 

But what seems to be showing up most is tight grips can cause pain, with either grip style.

You are right about that one. All the Big Numbers are in the knife hold section. I would have guessed that it would be closer to 50/50 but it's actually more than two to one (68%). I find this interesting because, to this day, I always think of the pencil hold as "correct".

I thought the grip was determined by how you were taught to crochet with the pencil grip being British/English (proper) and the knife grip being American (not so proper) but possibly more prevalent.

 

Guess we learn something every day.

I was taught pencil but changed fairly early in my crocheting career. I thought it was just because I have large hands and it was easier for me.

 

My aunt still thinks I have sunk beneath reproach for this.

(but the dark side has cookies) :wlol
