SnB One Skein Scarf for a 7 year old?

boo1

Question

What changes do I make to the pattern so that I can make one for my 7 year old niece? I'd like her to have a long scarf, but not adult long!

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

this is only a quess, but if you made it about 3 times as long as the neck to waist measurement on a 7 year old top wouldn't that be the right size. Just check the number or stitches matches the pattern repeat for the border. Or, you could make it in dk on 4mm hook!

Looking at symbol pattern, each pattern repeat takes 4 dc's then add one more dc for the last dc or for the beginning depending on how you look at it.

So basically, you need to have a multiple of 4 plus 1.

play around with it.

Or use the smaller hook. Hmm. :think

I went down a hook size or maybe two, I can't remember off hand, for my daughter. She was 3 1/2 this past winter and it was a good fit, going around her neck and tied.

I think it'll be good for this winter, too.
