Seeking an Alternative to Popcorn Stitch

SilverNimbus

Question

I was making a bag with the popcorn stitch, but... I have an issue with the "puffing" so I was wondering if there was an alternative to the popcorn stitch. I'm looking for a stitch that can make a bag "pop" ith some texture. 3D texture is great, but the puffing just makes it look a little messy so something else would be great.

Thank you!

Have you thought about maybe alternating between front post and back post double crochets? That would add texture but not be too puffy. Would also close up holes to make the bag more closed.

Try a taller stitch. I recently made a pattern that had tidy looking 'bobbles' made in a field of sc by throwing in a treble where you wanted a bobble. Because it is 'two sizes' taller than the sc it bends over backwards and makes a nice, pronounced bobble/bump/whatever. So, if your pattern is in DC, try a double treble stitch.
