Can someone tell me how many times to wrap around the crochet hook for a double treble stitch?

Is your pattern British terms or American terms? One way to tell is a British pattern will not have single crochet. Crocus58 gave you the American answer, but a British double treble is an American treble .

I misspoke. I was looking for a website that showed British versus American terms, I'm sure there are more complete ones but I found this (scroll down to page 20).

British terms DO have a SC, what they don't have is a slip stitch. Sorry.

Sorry, people but British/European patterns do not have SC and they do have Slip Stitch.

 

The only difference between US & British/European is you do a SC which we call a DC, you do a DC which we call a TR, you do a TR which we call a DTR. (Remember it was the US which changed the names, not the British.)

We still have a Slip Stitch which is needed to join at the ends of rows or to work along to where you need to be for the next row of the pattern.

 

Once you get the hang of the difference, you should be able to swap from one to the other, a bit like learning to speak a few words of another language.

 

I spent the first 55 years crocheting just English/European patterns but now, I can even write a pattern for the American people or translate it for the others.

 

Hope this does not confuse matters even more.
