Decreasing - best way

grinning chook

Question

What is the best way to decrease?

At the moment I go into sc yo over and pull through loop then into next sc yo and pull through loop and then yo and pull through all three loops but it seems to leave holes.

What way do you find best esp for the Amigurumi animals and dolls?

with sc dec i pull up a loop in first sc, pull up a loop in second sc, yarn over and draw through all loops on the hook. this seems to work for me i guess, i have made quite a few dolls etc :)

As far as I know this is the only way. Just keep your tension tight, if not then your stuffing will show through. Sometimes I use a smaller needle to pull the loops through first then the right needle to finish the decrease. I hope that does not confuse you too much.:)

You can also skip one stitch and sc in the next stitch, but IMO that leaves bigger holes so I usually decrease as pps described, pull up a loop in each st then yo and pull through all 3 loops. But if I am doing leaves or ears or something 2 dimensional that isn't going to be stuffed, sometimes I use the sk1 st, sc in next method.
