Question

Quick question. How do you line a bag? I have made a small bag for my neice and I want to line it with material before I sew it together. Do I sew the lining in by hand, or use a machine? How does the yarn work going through the sewing machine?

Any imput would be great!

I will post photos when I am done!

Thanks!:P

You can machine sew lining into a crocheted bag. Sew the lining in with the lining on top, the yarn underneath, and a piece of wax or tracing paper underneath the yarn to keep it from getting caught in the teeth on the machine.

When you're done sewing, you should just be able to tear the paper away. HTH!

I do "machine sew" lining in from time to time. But usually I hand sew it in with a whip stitch or a blanket stitch....especially the smaller items like children's purses, coin purses, cell phone pouches and such. Sometimes I use a running stitch but not often.

I usually sew my lining together and then handsew it into the bag. If you're doing a purse that needs to be sewn anyway I would probably attach the lining first. Depends on the pattern.
