Any advice?

I wasn't sure if this was the right place, but it's about yarn so I thought I'd stick it here.

 

If I've finished a project and have a partial skein left, I usually roll it in to balls and toss it in to a basket with other small balls of yarn. I was cleaning my stash up and from moving things around, they're all tangled up because the balls come unrolled at the end.

 

So my question is: Does anyone have a suggestion to hold the end of your yarn ball in place so it doesn't come unrolled and get messy?

I usually just tuck the end in the balls under the other yarn - Does this make any sense???

That's usually what I do, but they tend to come undone. A lady I knew used to use a straight pin to basically tack the tail in place, but I don't like the idea of sticking my hand into a basket full of pins!

Try a rubberband around the ball.

Thanks for the ideas! I think I'll wrap a rubberband around the ones I know I'll be using soon, and toss the ones that I'm saving for a scrap-ghan into stockings!
