help with doily

shadow

Question

I need help with this doily. I am making this for a swap and I am afraid it is coming out badly. It's all lumpy and bumpy. It won't smooth out. I have a tendency to be a very tight crocheter. Should I tear it out and start all over again?

honey - It looks great! Once you block it, it'll be beautiful. If you want you can gently and evenly tug it all around the edges. That'll halp the stitches line up correctly and it'll smooth out quite a bit. It won't look lkike the pic until it's blocked tho.

I would work a couple more rows since it is early in this game at this point.

It usually will work out in the blocking and you are at a bumpy part right there so a couple more rows should show you how it will go. it does seem a tad off centre but that could be just the way it sat for the photo.

Thanks Darski and rosered! I will keep working on it and post a pic when I'm done.

i agree. work a few more rounds, and see if it starts to lie down better. When you finish it, make sure to wash it, and pin it down. While pinning, pull and adjust it to even it out, and I think it will work out fine.

It's been years since i worked with Crochet cotton but I found that it was willing to shift and play nice much better than yarn in the same state. It just gives and evens out somewhere.
