Curling Ends?

Good Afternoon Everyone,

 

I've just begun to try my hand at making dishcloths. I've found that the end of my first rows seem to curl? Is there something that I'm doing incorrectly or some way to stop this from happening?

Are you doing single crochet? It's notorious for that. If it's a natural fiber, like cotton or wool, you can block it later to take out the curl, but if it's acrylic, then you can't.

 

It's really just the nature of single crochet to curl. No biggie.

You could do a round of sc evenly around the entire cloth, being sure to work 3 sc in each corner st. This would help the piece from curling.

You can also use a size larger crochet hook for the starting chain. That should fix the curling.

The first row always curls for me... Once you do a few rows, it will straighten out... AND you still have to block it if you want it flat... (although I don't know if you would really want to do that with a dishcloth!
