Knit Picks Yarn

I'm not sure if any of you read the yarn reviews over at <a href="http://www.knittersreview.com/" target="_new">knitter's review</a>, but I've found a number of yarns through their reviews (most notably <a href="http://www.beaverslide.com/" target="_new">Beaverslide Dry Goods</a>' mule-spun yarn).

<a href="http://www.knittersreview.com/article_yarn.asp?article=/review/product/050210_a.asp" target="_new">This month's review</a> is of <a href="http://www.knitpicks.com/" target="_new">Knit Picks</a> new yarns that they are producing at very, very low prices. You can read more at the review on Knitter's Review.

I ordered $30 worth of samples yesterday (free shipping if you order at least $30 worth!) and they were shipped out today, so I anticipate the yarn arriving in a week or so.

If you're looking to try out some new yarn, hey, maybe this is an option for you!

I've been studying the Knit Picks site for a couple of weeks now. I'm not sure what I'm waiting for, but I'm very tempted to give them a shot. They've got some beautiful stuff! :danc

I ordered some of their stuff... wool of the andes, sock yarn, lace weight yarn... let me know if you'd like my opinion on any of these. (I've only used the sock yarn so far, and have yet to finish the socks...)

mantler, I'd love to hear what you think about it!

My shipment is still out there somewhere, though they said they shipped it out over a week ago (doesn't usually take that long to travel here from there :cry )

I ordered some wool of the andes, both kinds of sock yarn (I :heart :sock ), and some of the laceweight yarn. I can't wait until it shows up!!

I finally got my knit picks yarn yesterday. I posted about it on my blog. I'm pretty happy with all of it, but the yarns I'm most happy with are Shimmer and Sock Landscape.

I also like how shiny Elegance is!

The price is about that of your typical Lion Brand/Patons/Caron/Bernat wool-acrylic blend, but this is all animal fiber and a higher quality yarn. It's not quite as good quality-wise as something like Koigu or Noro or Brown Sheep, but it's also a bit cheaper. I find it to be a good deal despite the handful of shortcomings !

[some of the yarns tend to split, some of them are not very strong and will break easily when tugged slightly.]

Sorry I didn't respond earlier... I forgot to check the "notify me" box. I've now used two of their yarns... the striping sock yarn, and the undyed merino sock yarn. The striped sock yarn is quite fun, although there are spots where other colours splashed where they shouldn't have. The yellow isn't as pure as I'd like, but I find that with most yellow yarns. The merino is very nice and soft... a bit splitty, and the stitch definition is a bit fuzzier than usual, but it *is* soft. :)
