Spun odds and ends

I got the chance to finish spinning up some odds and ends of rovings I had. Many were from dyeing with left over Easter Egg dyes. I just grabbed a piece of roving, spun it and then picked another color and so on. Here's what I ended up with. I'm quite pleased with it and will see about making some mittens for myself. Then I started spinning the merino I just got back from the processor and oh, if that's not a blessing just to touch, I don't know what is!

OH MY!! you do beautiful spinning! i haven't gotten up the courage to ply yet. i still am doing sport to ww singles.

how long have you been spinning? (i'm sure you've probably told me befor..... )

 

anyhow, that is just gorgeous! what a beautiful pair of mittens it will be!!!

Thanks for the color comments. I was really pleased how the randomness of the plying worked, too.

 

Plying isn't all that hard once you learn how to do it. Kinda Like spinning! :rotfl I started spinning a year ago, but didn't get my own wheel till last February. I didn't do much with a spindle as it's just not my cup of tea.

Free form is not one of my skills yet. I have seen some beautiful stuff and when I acquire enough odds and ends of different types of yarns.... who knows????

 

Now the ED is starting to weave, I imagine we'll acquire lots of miscellaneous this and thats which may lend themselves to abstract crochet.

 

These are the socks I made from the bulk of the Easter Egg Dyed wool last spring. They are fraternal, not identical.

I love these socks, SamplerLady! :)h I know you've posted them before but I don't think I mentioned how much I like them. I'd love to put them in the Feet Need Socks Gallery (which is now open to all crocheted socks, not just ones from the CAL) if you're interested!

 

 

P.S. to those wondering... Why open the gallery to all socks and not just CAL socks? Because I'd love to show the world that crocheters, too--not just knitters--can make beautiful socks! :cloud9

Yes, feel free to post the pics in the gallery. When my purple ones are dry (have to wash my wool socks in the sink) I'll take a pic and you can post those, too. The purple ones are dyed with food coloring.
