favorite hook size?

Crocheters, what is your favorite hook size for felting? I made 2 test swatches using an I and a J hook and crocheting LOOSELY, but I think maybe now the stitches were too small? (I haven't tried adding boiling water to the washer yet though.)

I always head for my K hook when I want to felt worsted weight wool. I use aluminum hooks - so that is my largest hook that is still light enough to crochet for hours on end.

I always use an L hook and a hdc stitch.

I have been using a K or a L with the hdc stitch. It seems to give me the best gauge for the finished product and works up very fast. I also have only been using 1 strand of yarn. I know alot of people have posted and I have seen patterns that use 2 strands but to be honest with the finished results I have been getting I can't see the need for 2 strands.

I may have to increase my hook size. I used a G & hdc

I also use a K hook. I prefer a sc though as it seems to felt more evenly length and width. When I was using hdc it seemed to felt shorter in the heighth that in the width and my pieces looked wonky.

I use a K hook, hdc and one strand of yarn for my purses. Quicker stitch, less rows and my results are always nice and sturdy.

Thanks everyone! Looks like I may re-swatch...... Better to reswatch than start all over again though..... I'll update you when I get some results to show off.
