Vague Gauge

gingerchai

Question

I ordered a pattern book from Berroco because I fell in love with this vest . The only problem is the gauge for the project which reads...

"4 1/2 stitiches= 1" on 4.00 mm (F) crochet hook. (for size small) and 4 stitches = 1" on size 4.50 mm (G) crochet hook" (for medium/large)."

It doesn't specify which stitch, which varies throughout the pattern. In other patterns for instructions for gauge usually say "in pattern stitch" or "sc". Any ideas that you might have will be very much appreciated.:)

:cheer I imagine it would be a swatch done in DCs or Scs or they might have said X number of repeats to the 10CM (4 inches)

Give it a try or maybe, if you know that you generally do not have a problem with tension, just start your pattern.

The importance of the correct tension depends a lot on what you are making.

As it is a vest which looks like it is started from the top. you may be able to adjust the hook size as you go. Just make sure you make all the same parts with the same hook size.

Hope this is a help.

Have fun.
