dish cloths, what weight cotton?

My MIL would like me to make her some dish cloths, but the 4ply cotton seems so bulky... is this what you normally use?

I use sugar n cream yarn Not sure what weight it is but they have it at wally world. HTH Nikki

I also used the Lily Sugar N Cream to make dishcloths. Seemed rather bulky, but worked up nicely - wasn't too stiff or bulky.

I have one pattern leaflet that has a few patterns that call for 2 strands of size 10 thread held together, but I haven't tried any of them--seems like a lot of work for a dishcloth

I USE "Sugar n Cream" or "peaches n Cream" too. They come out very nice!

 

My first knitting project was dishcloth in a two stitch check pattern and I noticed the knitted one is less bulky.

 

But the crocheted ones are sooooooo pretty:)

I use the Bernat Handicrafter Cotton. I haven't tried any other, so I can't compare, but I think it works great. I'll never be buying dishcloths again!

O.kay, thanks. Guess I'm just used to flimsy cheap cloth ones. I'm making some for me and MIL.

Theresa - I used Sugar n Cream 4 ply. Someone in C'ville recommended it and I love it. I dont find it too bulky and the finished project is so pretty and functional. Problem is that it is so nice that you don't want to use it. I also found that if you can't follow the pattern 100% that is OK, as this type of project is forgiving and you can make it up as you go along!!!
