Need help making a square.

Question

http://www.yarncat.com/cro4patch.html

I don't understand the first step... It says to ch 4, then sl st to 1st ch to form a loop.

How do I sl st to 1st ch?

Also, after that it says... ch 3,2 dc in a loop three times. So... chain 3, then 2 double stitches but how do I do that in a loop?

Squares usually start with a circle or a loop. YTou put hook into the loop (hole) you just made and start your dc's in this case. The chain 3 counts as the first dc. Hope this helps.

How do I sl st to 1st ch? Chain 4, then insert your hook into the first chain you made and yarn over and pull the loop through both loops on your hook. This will create a "loop" of chain stitches.

Then chain 3 and do 2 dc into the center of the "loop" that you made. [images are clickable]
