if you take 2 different patterns and use only parts of them to make one pattern whose the designer?

i think a design you want to call your own.. should be just that all your own.. other wise to me its just taking parts of other peoples work and piecing them

I agree... while we may 'create' from parts of various patterns making it our own creation, the various designs still belong to the designer...

 

Personally I make 'Frankenstein's all the time... I like a cardigan style, but want flowy sleaves from something else...

I have to agree. It's not your design when you use other peoples designs to achieve it.

You can be inspired by someones work, but If you use their pattern at all it's still their pattern. Give credit where credit is due, It's only fair....
