Ever wonder about the history of Pineapple design?

I have often wondered about it. It is beautiful of course...but several times I have wondered why it is prominent in crochet designs & one of those designs in wearables, home decor or doillies that is drooled over...it is a beauty & also has a history. It was a nice little read about the history of the Pineapple design & how it entered the crochet world.

 

The pineapple is a sign of friendship and hospitality.

Very cool! I remember seeing lots of pineapples in the decor of Colonial Williamsburg and in the book on Colonial decorating that my mom bought there.
