help deciphering japanese pattern

I'm trying to "decode" this pattern. can anyone help? I really want to make one of these before Christmas, but I just cant grasp it yet.

And, if anyone can figure this out, you guys can.

It looks like macramÃ© to me.

The first illustration looks to be showing you how to start your cords.

The second illustrations is demonstrating how to make a square knot.

The third is showing you how to do the pattern creating the bag.

I hope that helps some. It's been tooooooooo many years since I last attempted to macramÃ©.

yep, I agree, it's macrame...

And don't ask me about that, the only time I've tried I ended up with a big, ugly, knotty mess.

It is macrame - once you get started and can keep the tension and knots even it is very easy.

I have some instructions that I could email you if you need some help.
