TOTC Hooks getting stuck in the b--b?

OK here is a stupid question.

 

I just got 2 TOTC hooks F & G. Anyway, I went to use the G and found it is much longer than the regular hooks.

 

My problem was that everytime I used it, I was sticking myself in the boobs with the hook.

 

Is it me, or has anyone else had this problem? I am just curious and if you did, did you just get use to it, or do you just ignore getting stuck????? Maybe it is the way I hold my hook. I hold it like a pencil.

 

I really want to know, as I love the hooks. They are smooth and they glide right through the yarn.

I don't have that problem, but I crochet the other way (like a knife). Plus, I'm so tiny in that area I doubt it would ever be an issue .

 

They are long though - one of the things I really like about mine, it's more comfortable for me - but I know a lot of people do better with shorter hooks.

I use a knife hold too so I've not had that problem. It always takes me a few rows to get used to using the TOTC hooks, but then I'm fine.
