"used double"

I have a pattern that says, "Change to B (used double) and patt 4 rows."  What is meant by "used double"?

You will need to study pattern for clues to figure it out. The phrase by itself isnt enough for me to definitively clarify for you. Does it mean they used 2 strands of yarn?  Is it their way of telling you what stitch was used?  Are they telling you to fold a piece so that it is doubled over?   Can you tell by anything from photos?  Were there any special notes in pattern or comments from others that have worked this pattern?  Have you tried contacting the designer to help or clarify?

I agree with Bgs' first guess; I've seen blanket patterns that mean for you to make the item using 2 strands throughout say 'with yarn held double', which is maybe a tiny bit clearer but means the same thing.
