Lost my hook :(

Acidburn

Question

So I'm in the middle of making a lap blanket and I lost my only 4.5mm clover hook... all I'm left with is a stupid off brand one that is super sticky or a bamboo one that is also sticky no matter the oil wax or cloth rubbing helped.... so the question is will it be a stupid idea to use a 5mm?

I definitely would NOT advise using a different size hook. The best answer would be to put the project aside until you can order an new hook.

If you absolutely can't tolerate the other brands, you could try the different size and be aware of using a tighter or looser tension depending on whether you went up or down in size. I have serious doubts that this will work and you should be prepared to rip it out if the gauge is different.

Agree!

It might not be noticeable until you have worked many rows.  If you havent matched your gauge your sides wont be straight.
