Finishing pre hole punched pillow cases

I am finishing up some pillow cases that my aunt embroidered.  They have pre punched holes for edging.  Do I need to trim the edges before crocheting?

I cant remember.  How far does the fabric extend beyond the holes?  If you  trim it up next to the stitching around the bottom of the holes I dont think that leaves a very substantial piece to crochet around to hold the edging onto the pillow case. I was afraid the fabric would fray.   I think I folded the fabric twice so that the edge was 3/8 inch from the hole.  Then I crocheted around it using the hole.

Confession, (1) I've crochet- edged fabric things but never a pre-punched fabric (2) I'm a little lot obsessed re: making sure the fabric clothing I sew or the things I knit or crochet are as bullet-proof as possible (probably has something to do with having parents raised during the Great Depression), so I'm casting the same vote as Bgs and say "don't trim".
