Good Afternoon, 

I would like to make this "Lizzie McGuire" Crochet headband, and made what I thought was a similar one but it doesn't look the same. I thought it was granny squares joined to make a headband. I think the one I made is okay, but needs some work, and i feel they are not the same pattern.

Looks pretty close to me.

The slight differences I'm seeing- (1) the original may have been done in a slightly finer yarn than yours (2) the original appears to have an edging (probably SC?) around the long sides  (3) yours has wavier long edges, it could be due to the seam between the squares being pulled a bit too tight.

I used a 100% cotton yarn in size (4) with a G hook. Maybe I can try with a DK yarn and a the same G hook. And the SC around the project. Thank you so much. I love this forum.

I did a search and yours pretty much looks like other ones out there.  You might try different joining methods for granny squares.  Cotton yarn can be blocked to help straighten it up a bit.
