Am I Doing the Single Crochet Stitch Wrong?

My single crochet has a lot of holes in it and I have no idea why- I have tried using tighter tension and less tensions but nothing works. I am using wrosted cotton yarn and a 6.5 mm hook.

Try using smaller hooks.    I generally use an H (5mm) or G hook (4mm) but use smaller for amigurumi.

Like Brenda said, it may just be the size of your hook. Your tension can make a difference in how it looks also.

There are lots of videos that you could watch to see if you are doing it correctly. In this one she is doing the stitches very slowly which can be helpful. The sc starts about 6:20 into the video. I meant to just post the link instead of the actual video.
