Súper stuck on a vintage snowflake pattern

SusanYFleming

Question

Hi! I recently purchased a vintage pattern off of Etsy called the Snowflake Afghan. It looks like it’s from the 80s. The instructions when I hit round 4 are not clear to me and I could really use some help. To me it’s unclear where I’m supposed to be double crocheting and then they refer to a “pat”…. Can someone help?

I dont have the pattern so I dont have enough info to help.  Some patterns after a few rounds assume that you will pick up on the repetitiveness and see how to continue on so they will say continue to work in pat (pattern). You should contact the seller or designer for help especially since you purchased the pattern.

Edited because I was describing rows not rounds before.  I agree with BGS if the pattern was in rows, but not really so much if it were in rounds, because every round is going to be different for a snowflake, and each round should be spelled out in full.

Is there a photo of the pattern on the 'net' somewhere?  If it 'looks like it's from the 1980s' it sounds like the seller (probably) either illegally scanned pages of a magazine or book, or cut out pages to sell them (the latter is legal, the former is not), and is probably not the designer and may not be able to help.  If we saw a photo, we might be able to steer you in the right direction of what a line meant.  Is it one of these, by chance (patterns of the same name from magazines)

https://crochetforfun.tripod.com/snowflakeph.htm  this is a double-sided potholder, but the snowflake front half looks very similar to a blanket motif that was in a book I found while I was searching for "Snowflake afghan"--just throwing this out there--I made a couple of these potholders for Christmas gifts a couple of years ago. I don't recall finding it difficult, and if you have questions I have a little background on this one :hook
