I had to look it up; so many stitches have many names, according to the link below it's also called the Suzette stitch.

It appears you can just make a chain the length you want, turn and work back; it is worked over an even # of stitches, if you end up with an extra chain at the end of the first row you can pick the extra chain out later (it will not unravel from the knot end--I always throw in a few extra chains if the chain is really long, I'd rather rip a few chains later than come up short).
