It gets bigger and bigger and.....

I started a 5 1/2 hour afghan because I wanted to do something mindless. I am useing 2 strands of redheart and a M hook I think, I was just crocheting away and laid it out to measure and d*** if the thing isent getting bigger!?!?!? I have looked and I havent done anything wrong I dont think, I noticed tho that it starts getting bigger almoast exactly where I joined my next 2 skiens of yarn, any ideas?

I've never done this pattern, but it looks like you might have made an extra repeat of the stitch pattern at the place where you joined the new yarn?

thats what i was thinking. maybe adding a stitch or leaving one out?

it really looks nice though. love the color.

Maybe you could count your stitches and rip back to where the cout is correct. Mistakes aside, does this pattern live up to its name? Is it really a 5-1/2 hour project? If so, what a great gift idea... Good luck fixing the mistake.

Is it a simple V stitch pattern, with a DC at each end?

 

I agree with the others, for some reason, it looks like you have more V stitches after the join so count how many there are on your last row done and also on the very first row you did.

You may have been distracted and did not notice that you did a few Vs where they should not be.

It is a very common mistake to make and easily fixed with a bit of unravelling.

It will now be a 7 hour Afghan.

Yep, looks to me like you've got an extra V-stitch on the right there. Very easy mistake to make! Especially if you're preoccupied while working.

I have done this afghan also and yes it is not hard to mess up a stitch. The one that I did first I know I had to rip out several times to get it right. Good luck!! It is a very nice color you are working with and looking good so far.

Ooo, I want that pattern! I agree with their assessment of what went wrong; adding stitches is too easy.
