Baby Blanket

Renate Hinsepp

Question

I am looking for an old Granny square pattern for a Baby blanket from either Woman's Day or Family circle from 1990 - 1997.  In that pattern inside the Granny square, 3 double crochet stiches were turned  and when finished they looked puffy.  I would love to make that blanket again for my Grand daughter.  Help me please.

Thank you

I'm no help on the whereabouts of a magazine with that pattern in it, but do you have a clear photo of the first blanket you made?  No promises but we might be able to reverse engineer the center part with the unusual stitches if we can see what it looks like.

I'm imagining something like an asymmetrical 1 row cable by what you are describing as '3 dcs were turned'.  That would be an interesting 'twist' (pun intended) for a granny square, and would be easy to make in place of the usual 3 dc 'granny shell'.

Hi Renate (my first name too! 😃)- Welcome to the 'Ville.

I'm not familiar with that particular vintage pattern, but, here's a video on how to make the Twisted Double Crochet . Hopefully, it will give you some inspiration.
