Garter stitch help

I am knitting squares for an afghan. The square I am working on now is just simple garter stitch. I just happened to look down and noticed this: post-72221-0-44671800-1419837180_thumb.jpg

Part of two of the rows looks like stockinette stitch. I know I didn't purl any stitches, what did I do to cause this?

I would  rip it  out

I think since it's just one square of an afghan, I can use this square on a corner and keep the messed up part on the wrong side and I don't think it will be too noticeable. It's just going to be a snuggle afghan for my mom so it doesn't have to be perfect. I just want to know where I went wrong so I don't do it again.

My Mom never made anything perfect.  There was always an imperfection somewhere.  She said it was because every thing you make you leave part of yourself in it, so you make an imperfection so it can get out.  My Mom was Irish, she had a lot of sayings.

If it will bother you, I say rip it out and start from that part, if not, like you said put it in a corner.
