Unraveling after finished...

Question

I'm snipping the ends on a blanket I finally finished weaving all the ends in. Turns out that I missed one or I cut the wrong part of the yarn since now the stitches are coming undone. The problem is that it's the center part of a granny square! Any ideas on how to salvage this?

I've bookmarked a few blogs on repairing.  You have to kind of translate the info into the specific application you need, but it helps visualize what to do.  Basically you need to stabilize the bottoms of the first undamaged row of sts, and work from there.

general repairs:

Depending on how big the granny square is I would probably just chuck it and make a new one.

Consider it a lesson learned.  I think it'll take less time to make a new granny square than it will to try to repair one that's been damaged by cutting in the wrong place.

I'm not a crochet 'purist'.  And this is why I like knots.  There are members here that completely disagree and that's ok, too.  After a while we all find our own 'personal preferences'.

If it was all undone, I'd do that. The problem is that I've pieced everything together, weaved in all the ends (well I thought I did), washed it, and was cutting ends. THAT'S how I found that I didn't weave all of them in when that square started coming undone. :/

I did this with an afghan by cuting a thread that I thought was woven in but found out too late it wasn't. I undid parts on both sides and attached new yarn and redid the stitches which wasn't easy but that's one option.

One time I had to make a separate small patch for a spot where one of my cats apparently chewed into an afghan. I was stunned, and thought my 'ghan was totally ruined. Well, it wasn't. I couldn't figure out how to fill in the rows, so I made a small sc patch a little bit larger than the hole, and wove all around and across it. Honestly, I really have to look for this patch to see it. I'm sure nobody else would notice.

If you have to, make new centers to match, and weave them on top of the damaged areas.
