Crochet Sylvester Cartoon

Heloise Du Plessis

Question

I'm crocheting the Sylvester cartoon from a pattern I purchased on Etsy.  I'm not a crochet expert and therefore need some help with the hand.  On the pattern it says that I should:

Flatten Rnd 7, with thumb towards side.  Sew center 4 stitches of Rnd 7 together then gather 6 stitches at each end of seam, secure yarn.

I'm a bit lost here.  Can anybody help please.

You are sewing here, not crocheting.

It sounds like you might be closing up the tip of the glove?  I may be wrong, but this is my interpretation from what you've written:

First, I think I'd work this from the wrong side because you will be making a seam.

Orient the glove as it says.

Seam the center 4 stitches of each side of the tip of the glove together .

Gather the remaining stitches (in 2 groups, 1 on each side of the seam you just made) together.

To gather, I'd weave the needle in and out of the stitches to be gathered, pull tight, and fasten the yarn.

Does that sound right, or look right from the picture?
