Need help with crocheting a rectangle spiral please.

Midds

Question

I love the look of the spiral afghans except that they are round. Does anyone have a shareable free link to a pattern that would spiral but give you a finished rectangular afghan?

My other option if anyone could help me get started -

1. I would like to use 3 colors.

2. I don't like big holes or spaces so I would essentially like it to look like this but spiraled with 3 colors and rectangular rather than square. http://debscrafts55.blogspot.com/2007/12/never-ending-blanket-square.html

Would anyone please be able to help?

Thank you!

this http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/simply-spiraled-crochet is the only thing i can think of that comes close.  you wouldn't have to use color changing yarn, you could use 3 different colors and just change color where you want to.

The one you linked to isn't a spiral, it's just rounds of different colors.  And the pattern is really similar to a granny square, except without the holes (the corners are the same as a granny square, the rest is just straight dc).

You should be able to modify a rectangular granny pattern and make the center row solid dc instead of 3 dc, skip 1.

Determine the size you want your blanket.  The starting chain will determine the ending measurements.  The starting chain must be the difference between the length and the width.  If you want it 4' x 6', the starting chain should be 2'.  You would need a 1' chain for 4' x 5' , and so on.  Because you are'nt constrained by the granny repeat, you can make the chain any length.

Here are some links to rectangular granny patterns. http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/search#view=captioned_thumbs&availability=free&sort=best&craft=crochet&query=rectangle%20%2B%20granny

But, the one that Magiccrochetfan linked to is really cool....

Granny Square, I just posted that link to show the closeness, no holes or big gaps, that I like. It was hard to describe. :)

After hours of searching I found this link: http://grannymania.canalblog.com/archives/2013/02/20/26464023.html

Anyone have a pattern similar to this in English that is shareable and free?

This is sort of what I'm looking for except one that would create a rectangle rather than a square?

After finding a few like the link in this post, I am thinking that making a rectangle is not possible without using 4 colors.

Thank you!

Ah, gotcha.  There's some ideas here for solid squares (not rectangles)

I have to admit I've never tried multicolored spiral.  (Just guessing) it might be similar to converting a square to a rectangular granny--you'd have to amend the beginning from a point to a line.
