Crochet Shrug

I am crocheting the child's shrug that is in Crochet 1-2-3 for my adopted daughter.  After you make the rectangle you have to sew it together, which makes the sleeves.   I haven't sewed anything crocheted together in many, many years.  What would be the best way to do this.

There are a number of ways to do it. To me the easiest is to slip stitch through the matching stitches on the two sides. Googling "joining crochet" will get you a lot of info about different methods. There is often a stitch basics section in the back of magazines/books.

I agree, you could sew a more invisible seam but slip stitching them together is easiest and uses 1 continuous strand which is probably sturdier.  Since this is an underarm seam it's not very visible anyway.
