ch 2, turn- 64 sts

Question

Hi,

This is my first post here and I tried to find the answer to this in another post to no avail...The complete direction for the step says "hdc in 3rd chain from hook and in each ch across; ch 2, turn - 64sts". I did the hdc along my chain, I did 2 chain stitches...I assume I understood that correctly. I understand the turn concept...but what does the 64sts part mean? I know it says 64 stitches...but do I stitch something? What kind of stitch?I just need that clarified for me and then I can begin my project again. Thanks in advance for any help or answers I get.

Just remember, the turning chain is counted as the first stitch of the row, so there will be the turning chain, followed by 63 hdc for a total of 64 stitches across the row.
