Ear Warmer with contrasting border

kerritrade

Question

I am a a newbie crocheter and making an ear warmer with a contrasting border. I have completed my chain of 70 and sc 16 rows and am ready to crochet the border but don't know how. Do I sc just the top and bottom rows and then connect the two end pieces together. Do I use a sl st to connect the ends?

Thank you.

You can do it the way you described, or connect the ends and then add the border.  I'd do it the second way because of the 2 colors.

You can slip stitch the ends, or whip stitch or mattress stitch by leaving a long tail and sewing.  The latter 2 will lay a little flatter.

Here is a dandy site for newbies http://www.crochetcabana.com/html/tutorials.html

I've linked the list of tutorials rather than the 'right' one so you can explore more later.  The pertinent one is in the second column, scroll about halfway down under 'assembly methods'
