Yarn & Hooks for Homeless Shelter

Hello everyone! I've just been approved by the local homeless shelter to give free crochet lessons to the kids who live there. I was wondering if anyone had any spare yarn and/or hooks they would like to donate to the cause? I thought it would be nice to be able to give each child a crochet "kit" that they could keep for practice. I'm willing to self-fund this, but I thought I would ask here too, as I know what a big-hearted bunch you all are.
