This is just a general question. Does anybody know what the rate of commission is when selling to a shop where they will sell your goods on consignment?

I am guesing 30% to the shop and 70% to you???:think:think

Thanks

From what I've seen it really vary's shop to shop. The best bet would be to ask the owner of which ever shop you are considering consigning with. :-)

Selling handcrafted can be such a tricky thing. Most people think it should be cheaper because it's "only" handmade. They do not realize how much time and emotion goes into something handmade. Most consignment shops want a bigger portion then the maker because they are providing all the expenses, except material and time, to sell your product.

When you give your price to the seller, please, at least triple the cost of your material, that way if they want 50% you are still making a bit for yourself.

I personally would never agree to more then 50%.

Just my 2¢ worth
