Call for Submissions: Loops of Love--book about the crochet life

Crochetville is now accepting submissions for an inspirational book focused on anything related to the love of crochet. We are looking for essays, short stories (fiction or non-fiction), poems, cartoons or other drawings, quick simple patterns related to your love of crochet, and other similar things.

 

Everyone is welcome to submit something, whether you're a crochet professional or hobbyist.

 

Possible Topics:

  • How you learned to crochet
  • Why crochet is important to you
  • Touching story about crocheting for charity
  • Experiences with a crochet or crafting group
  • A story about your trip to a crochet conference
  • Family connections through crochet
  • How crochet has helped you or others through a difficult situation
  • The art or history of crochet (pictures welcome if you own the copyright or can get permission from the copyright owner for us to use them)
  • The importance crochet plays in your life
  • Story about a special crochet hook, crocheted item, etc.
  • Anything else you can think of
  • Things you learned on the way to becoming a crochet professional
  • The joys of being a crochet professional (designer, teacher, tech editor, etc.)

Compensation:

 

While we cannot pay for submissions at this time, we will do our best to promote your participation and drive traffic to your website. We will include the following in the book and in a promotional thread on Crochetville about the book:

 

  • Brief bio of each contributor
  • Photo (optional)
  • Link to any website(s) you own
  • Identification by your Crochetville username and/or real name (your choice)

Planned Promotion:

 

We will plan a blog tour to promote the book once it is ready for release, as well as promoting here, on Facebook, Twitter, Ravelry, and via press releases. Everyone whose submissions are accepted will be invited to participate in the blog tour.

 

 

Legal Details:

 

By submitting Content for the book, you grant Crochetville a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable worldwide license to edit, use, copy, publish, publicly display, store, reproduce, transmit, and distribute such Content on and through the Crochetville website, in publicity and promotional materials, and in any other manner we so choose.

 

Each submission will be credited to the actual author whenever and however it is used.

 

You will retain all copyrights to your submissions, and are therefore free to publish your submissions on your own website. If you do this, we respectfully ask that you 1) wait to publish until the book has been released and 2) include a link to where the book will be available for purchase.

 

 

Send Us Your Submission:

 

Please email your submission to submissions AT crochetville DOT org. We would love to receive enough submissions by January 31, 2012, but if we don't we'll leave submissions open through March 31, 2012.

There's no firm deadline right now. While it would be great if I could get enough submissions by the end of January, realistically, it might need to go until the end of March.
