Make blankets for Katrina infants and children

I saw this story in the Times-Picayune and thought we could donate crocheted baby blankets:

Blanket drive on

A New Iberia, LA resident is spearheading an effort to make blankets for

infants and children who are victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Local quilter Julia Fleming said infant blankets can be sewn quickly by

machine or by hand. Fleming added that she is hoping to get as many

area quilters and seamtresses to get involved in the effort as possible.

To help or for more information, call Fleming at (337) 560-5187.

We are having a clothing drive at work for our coworkers in the gulf coast area and their families. I had two blankets I made from my leftovers that are headed to two ladies that are due to give birth soon. I also have on my to-do list, calling the local red cross and seeing if any of the evacuees (sp?) are in similar situations. Its not much, but it is something. Still waiting to get a phone call from them about what I can do to help at the civic center...
