There are so many free patterns on the internet that I have never had to purchase a pattern. Some patterns are poorly written with steps left out (that you discover after spending valuable time) or have unclear instructions - even purchased ones. Crochetville members are very good about having their designs tested before offering them to others.

I think what some do not realize is that people like me and others that sell indie patterns; we only get a percentage of the price. If we sell on Etsy we have to pay the listing fee, then a percentage of the sale. Then Paypal gets their cut. Same thing for patterns I sell on Kindle and Nook. Everyone has to get a piece of the pie.

Self published patterns are not going to get near the exposure of a nationally published pattern so they can afford to put more patterns in one book at a lower price.

I try to offer mine both ways (single pattern or an ebook of 5)
