First Time Felting Need Help

I made a simple bag in the round using I Love This Wool from Hobby Lobby. Followed the directions on the label for felting on the hottest water my washing machine would provide. I even added one teakettle full of hot water but it doesn't seem to have been enough. THe item didn't shrink much. It's damp now and laying flat. What should I do? Let it dry and try again or go ahead and try again now? How to proceed? I really want this to felt. THanks!

Try again now. Try adding a few drops of detergent, (liquid dish soap works well). Just continue on the wash cycle checking the item every few minutes until you get the size that you want.

And try another teakettle full of hot water in the washing machine.

 

 

It also helps to put a pair of jeans with the item that you are trying to felt so that it gets more aggitated than just by itself.

I add baking soda when I felt and I also add a pair of jeans or a few towels.

OK- It worked ! I will post the before and after photos tonight. I wanted to try this out now because I have an idea to make a few of these filled with goodies to give to my son's teachers in June. He is finishing out at his one school in an autistic class and moving up. Thanks for your help!
