Coffee mug "sweater"

kelvweb

Question

I'm searching for a pattern for a coffee mug sweater. These are different-looking than the wraps I've seen for Starbucks-type take out cups.

The sweater has a "hole" that lets it fit around a mug handle. It also has a tiny button above the hole that lets the user button and unbutton the wrap around the mug.

If you have a Caribou Coffee store near you, I've seen them sold there. Theirs are knitted and look especially cute because they have a cable/fisherman's-style sweater look. Here's a picture: http://www.cariboucoffee.com/asp/shop/detail.asp?c=4&p=678 Of course, I'm looking for crocheted versions.

I'm not a coffee drinker, but I enjoy drinking my hot tea from a mug and think these are adorable. Thank you!

That IS adorable. I've only seen the handle-less patterns too.

If I were to make one, I would make a rectangle that would be joined on either side of the handle; sewn together at the bottom, and a loop and button at the top. You would almost have to custom design it for the mug, I would think.

To get it to look similar to the picture, you would need to use sock or sport weight yarn. You could make the bottom cuff with fpdc, and below is a link which would allow you to design in some cables (I picked just one link, there are more at that site)
