Difference between afghan, tunisian and entrelac stitches

Recommended Posts

Can someone please tell me the difference in the stitches? Frankly I see no difference between them. I use the afghan stitch and people ask if it is entrelac. :shrug Thank you.

My understanding:

Tunisian & afghan = same thing.

Entrelac is a specific pattern style done in tunisian/afghan technique, which makes a diamond shape in the fabric; not all tunisian/afghan technique is entrelac...there are all sorts of stitches in tunisian/afghan technique, it is not just 1 stitch.

thank you crazy for asking this and thank you granny for answering. i'd been wondering about it when i've seen different references, but since I've never done any of them, just thought it was my not knowing.

Just to name a couple of tunisian sts, TSS-tunisian simple stitch, TKS-tunisian knit stitchTPS-tunisian purl, TBS-tunisian bobble......theres hundreds! The afghan st is most commonly used (TSS) Entrelac is a technique of how you work the TSS, not really a st in itself.
