Need a simple baby hat.

I am making a pair of baby socks. (Supposed to be finishing up a stuffed rabbit, but i'm feeling lazy.) I need a simple hat pattern, so i can make a set to donate to the nearest maternity ward. (I'm sure there's one around here somewhere... i just moved to the area.)

 

It needs to use baby weight yarn, since i would like it to match the socks. Anyone have an idea? Sport weight would also we okay.

 

Newborn or preemie, obviously. What fun would it be to get a hat for your baby that is too big?

One of my favorites is this one http://www.rheatheylia.com/index.php?page=patterns&id=0 I made one in sportweight and it came out just the right size for a newborn.

I use Susan Krauss' baby pattern and I love them. I make them over and over again and anyone I give them too just loves them too. I make the sweater and hat and it comes out beautiful.

What size hook did you use?

 

It's been a while and I don't remember positively, but I think it was a G and an H or an F and a G. I crochet tightly so I'm think it was probably the G and H hooks. The reason I knew it fit a newborn was that I tried it on my newest grandbaby a couple of days after she was born and it was perfect.
