Making A Backpack for myself

Recommended Posts

With going back to school in the winter I need a backpack, but all the backpacks I've seen aren't what I'm looking for I just want it square like the old backpacks but I want to know what kind of yarn is best acrylic or cotton and where do you get the buckles for them?

I was going to say cotton until I read leaette's post. Felting wool for this is really the best way to go. Books would be too heavy for anything else. Unless maybe a very tight gauge of nylon cord like this? The nylon is hard on the hands though.

I've seen straps, buckles, D rings, and things like that at Joanns.

I made a fealted backpack when I was in school. I got the d rings and the buckles at Joannes. Look in the sewing notions section of the store. At least that is where I got mine. Wish I still had it. I gave it to my niece when she started school.

i was at joanns just the other day. in the aisle where they have purse accessories (handles, etc) you will find all the hardware you will need (buckles, D-rings, etc)
