Crocheting Over Plastic Headband?

Recommended Posts

Those plastic headbands hurt my head, so I was just thinking what if I crocheted over them? It seems like it might help by adding some cushining. :think Maybe I could try just attaching with a single crochet and single crochet along the length of it? Has anyone done something like this before?

sounds like a good idea....I never wore headbands for the same reason..always hurt my head. You probably have to glue the ends down or they might slide right off though. Try it, if it works....great!!...if not, at least you tried. Good luck!!

I did do that. the one I used was padded (on top) but I wanted to try a visor. It was actually quite easy to do - the crocheting part. The trick is to have a way to secure that first stitch. However, you could probably start higher up rather than starting at the very tippy end.

I should look around for the visor I made... it looks good... just not useful is all.

Here you go, this one has a video to show you. Just leave off the ears:

Here is another one but it doesn't have any photos unless you go to Ravelry. Again leave off the ears:

Here's how I've done them. Use worsted yarn and aGor H hook. Ch about 60 . Dc in 3rd Chain and in each stitch across. Fasten off. Weave the headband through the strip by going over and under every 2 stitches. Hot glue the ends to secure. Hope thats clear enough. I've made quite a few but never tried to write it down.
