Crocheted Pillow with Inset Design

I made this pillow using a simple SC with an inset design. The two insets I designed (a butterfly and initial E) are provided below and a blank grid is provided for you to design your own inset. Please let me know if you find any errors.

 

Crocheted Pillow

Stitches:

SC: single crochet

SS: slip stitch

PS (puff stitch): yo, pull up loop 4 times, yo, pull through all but two loops, yo, pull through last two loops (each puff stitch indicated by black block on grid)

 

7 oz (2-3.5 oz skeins) medium weight acrylic yarn - primary color

3.5 oz medium weight acrylic yarn - secondary color

12 in pillow insert

J hook

 

Side of pillow (make 2)

Using primary color, Chain 44,

Row 1: SC in second chain from hook, SC across (43 SC), chain 1, turn.

Rows 2-16: SC across, chain 1, turn

Rows 17-41: *12 SC, change to secondary color in 12th SC, follow grid for pattern for 19 SC, change to primary color 12 SC, repeat from, chain 1, turn, repeat from *

Rows 42-56: SC across, chain 1, turn

 

Border:

Using secondary color, holding two pillow sides wrong sides together, join with SS in corner, chain 1, SC around three sides (make 3 SC in each corner). Place pillow insert between sides and SC fourth side to close, SS in chain 1.

Row 2: Chain 1, SC around, SS in chain 1.

Row 3: *Chain 4, skip next SC, SS in next SC, repeat from * around, SS in chain 1, finish.
