:thinkHi. If you are to use dpns and then switch to a bigger dpn can you use a circular instead?

Another question is this.

What size of needle do you need to do the magic loop on?

Especially if it is for a baby hat.

If you mean longer dpn's when you say bigger, then yes, you can switch to longer needles, but switching to a circular needle would be my choice. For a hat, I usually use a 16" circular needle.

 

I have never done magic loop, but from what I read on-line, any length over 24" should work if you are talking about length of the cable....needle size would depend on the pattern.

For magic looping I use cables that will make my needles either 32" or 40" long, depending on what I'm working on.

The shortest cable, I've been able to use for ML is 29" but that was for a wee, little, tiny baby sock.
