triple strand or layers?

I need to crochet and felt a thick circle for something i am working on,

what i need to know is, do i crochet it double or triple strand then felt it , or just make layers, whip stitch them together then felt?

 

i would rather crochet in multiple strands but i dont know if it will felt.

I recently made two purses using double strands. They felted just fine. If you need it thick, I'd say definitely double strand.

I've felted double, and it was very nice; I imagine even triple would be ok, but you may want to make a test swatch first.

I've also felted double stranded and it worked out fine
